What's Happening at GHE May 14 - 18

Mountain Bike Races have been cancelled this year.

- lack of teacher organizers

-  Test of Metal cannot take over the series due to

inability to pay the high cost of insurance

The students of Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School would very much appreciate DOG OWNERS picking up their dogs' poop and putting it in the garbage.  Our school yard would be a much safer place to play.

Let's Talk Science - Scientists from Simon Fraser University teach students.  Lessons and activities take place in classrooms according to the posted schedule.

Talent Show Auditions 12:00-12:40 in the gym

Grade 3 Students are on Lesson 3 of 8 Swim Lessons at Brennan Park Recreation Centre.  They are going each Tuesday and Thursday morning

Teachers will be marking School-Wide Writes, analyzing the writing and comparing them to the Student Performance Standards and the descriptors identified in 6+1 Traits and Writing Power.  Teachers will discuss themes, patterns, trends, writing needs and plan future directions.

Student placement at GHE is taken very seriously by our staff.  Careful consideration of student academic ability, social emotional development, special learning and behavioural needs are made when assigning students to a particular class grouping.  Student friendships are also considered.  Our goal is to achieve the best possible learning environment for all students in any class grouping.
